Ariel N. Oliver

Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps Legal Fellow, Veteran Legal Corps

Ariel N. Oliver serves as the Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps Legal Fellow in the Veterans Legal Corps. She has been with NLS since March 2018 and meets various civil legal needs of her veteran clients. Additionally, Ariel is accredited by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to prepare, present, and prosecute VA Benefit claims.

Ariel graduated from the George Washington University in May 2013 and received her B.A. in Sociology. In May of 2017, Ariel graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law with her J.D. She received the Pro Bono Service Leadership Award for completing 100 hours of qualifying public service work during law school, a Pitt Law Center for International Legal Education grant for her participation in the 2017 National Lawyers Guild Labor and Employment Committee’s research delegation to Cuba, and a 2015 Public Interest Summer Grant for her commitment and dedication to the public interest field.

Throughout her law school career Ariel has protected civil rights and ensured access to justice by providing free legal services to low-income families and individuals. In 2015, she interned for Southwestern Pennsylvania Legal Aid Services in Washington, PA, and Community Justice Project in Pittsburgh. In 2016, Ariel completed her AmeriCorpsJD Summer service and PLAN MLK, Jr. internship at NLS, and participated in the University of Pittsburgh School of Law’s Family Law Clinic.

Prior to her current fellowship at NLS, Ariel was an Associate Attorney at the former Schober Law, LLC in the Bloomfield neighborhood of Pittsburgh practicing family law.

Ariel currently serves as Trustee for her church New Dimensions Full Gospel Ministries, Inc. and as Treasurer for the National Lawyers Guild-Pittsburgh Chapter.
