Become a Board Member
The Legal Services Corporation (LSC) sets certain guidelines for board composition. At least sixty percent (60%) of board members must be attorneys. Some of these attorneys are appointed by the governing bodies of the local bar associations in the service area. Additional attorneys may be appointed by other organizations which have an interest in the delivery of legal services to the poor. All appointments reflect the geographic diversity of the area served by NLSA. At least one-third (1/3) of the Board of Directors must be eligible clients. These clients are appointed by a variety of community organizations that advocate or deliver services in the geographic area served by NLSA.
