Helpline Intern - a law student is needed to provide advice by telephone and in-person to clients regarding landlord-tenant (primarily), consumer, family and public benefits issues. Applicant needs to be available on Friday mornings and preferably Tuesday and/or Thursday mornings for court appearances and must be eligible for certification under Pa.B.A.R. 321. Applicant will need to commit to working 20 hours per work at $14.50 per hour. Interested students need to submit a resume and cover letter to Attorney Amy Carpenter at carpentera@nlsa.us. Applicants will be provided information and documents needed to provide a writing sample.
Family Law Intern - a law student who is eligible to be certified is needed to assist NLSA lawyers in domestic violence cases, and other general legal intern duties. The student will go to court to assist victims of domestic violence in obtaining protective orders. Office work will include interviewing clients and developing the cases. Student must be available two or three mornings a week (Monday-Thursday) to go to court. Additional hours can be worked on Fridays. Applicant will need to commit to working 20 hours per work at $14.50 per hour. Interested students need to submit a resume, cover letter, transcript and writing sample to Attorney Catherine Martin at martinc@nlsa.us.
