DHS SummerFood program to open June 13

From June 13 through August 19, 2011, the Allegheny County Department of Human Services will operate SummerFood, a free breakfast, lunch and recreation program for children and youth 18 years of age and younger in economically disadvantaged communities. www.alleghenycounty.us/dhs/food.aspx.

TANF Diversion Reminder

For persons who are between jobs and are in a temporary financial crunch, there is a program from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare (DPW) is designed to ease the burden. The program is called TANF Diversion, and it provides short term assistance for people in financial crisis due to a temporary loss of income. It is a one-time payment, and the maximum amount is equal to up to three months of the monthly grant for a specific family size.

Carnegie Museums offer a discount policy for anyone with a Pennsylvania Access/EBT Card

$1 general admission for cardholder and up to three additional people to the Carnegie Musuem of Natural History, the Carnegie Museum of Art, the Carnegie Science Center and the Warhol. Cardholder will need driver's license or other form of ID.
